Title: Nice yellowfin - great catch by Mark Stotesbury
Post by: Brandon Khoo on September 20, 2007, 08:03:53 AM
One of our members, Mark Stotebury, made this great capture recently. It's stunning fish to get on a jig. I'm posting for him because he can't figure out to post photos!  :D   ;D

Mark, fill us in on the detail - estimated weight, where captured, equipment used etc

Hi Guys
the fish was caught on a blue rose s60md jigging rod stella 20000pg reel and ygk 80lb jigman braid.
the jig was a AG "longpin"type jig [maybe OCEAN ROCKET ] hooked at 40m behind stern trawler. fight about +-40min. 35 miles offshore.only second big fish on the blue rose, you right brandon one hell of a rod- 14kg drag no problem arms 2 inch longer though .
cant stop smiling
cheers mark
thanks to brandon for the posting of pic..

a super effort on this one, Mark. You're using the heaviest Blue Rose of all!

Awesome Mark - are you able to tell us more about your adventures in that part of the world? I remember you mentioning that you've spent some time around the islands and atolls off Africa - would be cool to hear more.
