Every Year end we( Me and my sons Rahul & Jeenu) make a trip to Lakadives group of Islands off the souther tip of India ( close to home) .Like all our friends here this is again a search for "that" big GT. We fished 4 days . Many Gts, lots of colourful by catch. This was probably the closest we came to a real big Gt.
Rahul hooked a monster on a carpenter Gt gamma Nemo fought the fight of his life, the fish stripped him twice on near locked drag allowing us to see the centre of his spool a couple of times till he stopped it palming the spool. The fish surfaced near the boat and I took the leader. This Gt was a monster I have never seen a Gt this big in all our trips. Minimum 55 Kg!! I would say . The boat captian and jeenu were at the tail of the fish working out a plan to haul this monster in when the leader parted in my hands, the fish floated ever so slowly, righted it self and lazily swam away with the nemo attached to it. I wonder if we will ever see a fish this big again .

Great report Jeen, enjoyed the read and the photos.
I like my different lures but can't confess to being a true tackle junkie so I need to ask - what is the stickbait in photos 8 and 11?
-
Look like a Gamma

Gregg, You are right there was no "welcome back" to the Islands as the govt has closed down the usual resort we go to ;D
Travis, Pete is right those were Carpenter GT gammas. Lost three on this trip to big fish.
