Hi, I am off to Mauritius in december and have seen some pics of some monsters caught there. I am planning on fishing manily from the reef and rocky outcrops (not from a boat) and want to know what tackle i really need.
Currently I have 2 estuary type setups: a 9 foot silstar powertip and a shimano 6000 reel that is loaded with 14 lbs mono and a 7 foot telescopic rod with a smaller reel and 8lbs mono. Does a popping rod need to be stiff or should it be flexible??? Does anyone think I will catch anything with these?
Thanks?

Luc - if you hook a GT on that tackle, it will be very interesting for you! You might need to upgrade a little in terms of the gear if you want to fish for GTs.

Interesting.. ;D...I think it has potential to be a very short battle....with you left shattered.
The unfortunate thing about GT fishing is the gear needed is heavy and expensive....My bank account has suffered as a result! :(
