Title: More Cairns G's
Post by: Stephen Polzin on November 14, 2007, 11:11:49 AM
Got out to the reef early last week when the weather was magnificent.  Was a little slow cause we were a few days off peak time, but still managed a few G's, spaniard, Turrum, Bass and Flowery cod.

Unfortunately Brandon's coming to Cairns on the Full moon and subsequently it's now blowing like a bastard with no end in sight.  Nice one Brandon!

Flowery Cod.  Been wiped out by these on the shallow stuff before, but sometimes you get lucky.  This one was on PE4

My mate's first GT on popper.  He was using my Saltiga 4500Z with PE4.  Who says you need heavy line!  This one was from a double hook-up

Luke that's about 45km from the ramp.  A bit of a drive but worth it.

Brandon, well I did tell you to try for the New moon!  I'm stuck at work for the next week or so, but don't mind so much with the forecast!  If you're going to chase barra and want to catch heaps, I'd suggest you get up to lakefield - going off at the moment

coldn't do it around the new moon as the guy I am going with couldn't get the time and neither could I.
Cyclone Guba huh? Bloody typical  :-\

bloody hell, at this rate, I'll have nothing to do in Cairns so I'll be helping the Nomad boys get the Odyssey ready for Flinders

Haha, that's rotten luck Brandon, but it sounds like you have a reputation for bringing bad weather wherever you go!  Jeez it was glassy last week though  ::).

Stephen,
Some nice fish indeed on PE-4!!!
had a ball GT'ing from Shoalwater to Lizard Island during the 2004 heavy tackle marlin season....what a life...GT's in the morning with Donkey Class Blacks in the arvos for 9 weeks...
It's a terrific place...
Last seesion was 2005 out off Townsville at Slashers Reef...found some much larger GBR GT's....30's to 45+ rather than the aveage 15's to 18's....it was fun!!!!
Whish I had it on my back door....though the fishery we are working on has some pearlers in it too.

Again.....top fish. Congrats...every GT is a great encounter!!

Aaron.
