Title: Musandam Firing
Post by: Nick Bowles on May 30, 2011, 03:15:41 PM
After some amazing fishing in Southern Oman we carried on with some good fishing in Musandam. Southern Oman usually closes down towards the end of April and the Musandam carries on to early June. Earlier on in May we had a cold current move into the area and the water temp dropped from 27/28 degrees down to 23 degrees overnight. So most of the big fish moved out into deeper water. But the fishing finally started firing and most trips ended up with 40kg+ GTs over the last couple of weeks.

The outside temperature is getting very hot with most days over 40degrees so it is really sweaty work but the fishing has been awesome with a lot of variety with queenfish, tuna, smaller trevally, kingfish etc. We had a good friend Vitaliy fish with us for a few days and caught some really great fish with Kegan guiding. The biggest fish was close to 50kgs with several 40s and 30s.

Cheers,
Nick

Hi Sam, Vitaliy was using mainly stickbaits. He got most of his fish on Sebile lures.

Cheers,
Nick
