Anyone tried one of these yet for popping and if so, what are your thoughts?

Cheers,

Chris

Hi Chris,

We have had a 6500 Maverick since they were first released.
Not much has changed from the dogfight.

They use a new gen carbon based drag, after many people were changing out the washers in the dogfight to carbontex. These new washers have negated needing to do that.

They have also ditched one of the bearings in the handle knob after a few problems of them collapsing.

All in all it's basically an improvement on the Dogfight

I should add that now all Dogfights come standard with this carbon drag!

Cheers
Tom

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the info mate. If you were to buy one of the 2, which one would you get?

Cheers,

Chris

Maverick is slow speed for jigging.

The S-Extreme Maverick and Dogfight are both the same ratio, ideal for popping.

The S-Extreme and Expedition are nearly identical, same bearing and drag mods as the above comparison on the Maverick as Tom mentioned.

Chris i would wait another 5 months to make a choice. Wait until the new Saltiga 2010 6500 & 6500H comes out at the end of the year they will have 30KG of drag too. With the Saltiga 2010 you get the latest technology and the best reel on the planet.

The Dogfight Z6500 gear ratio is 6.2
The S-Extreme Maverick 6500H gear ratio is 6.2
The Expedition Z6500 gear ratio is 4.3

Cheers Rob  ;)

Maverick is slow speed for jigging.

My bad - Maverick is high speed, s-extreme is the low speed.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all of the info. I would love to wait for the new Saltiga but i need it by mid August at the absolute latest. Although the Mav is new, im leaning towards the Dogfight as it is proven.

Cheers,

Chris

Hey all

I could be wrong but isn't there a $200 (thereabouts) price difference between the s extreme and dogfight?
