Title: Port Douglas

Hi all

I'm going up to Port Douglas. Could anyone recommend any gt popping guides, charters there?
A google search found Akoonah Angling. Gt popping and jigging guides.
Anyone used these guys?

Most of the charters out of port are either big game or reef. However there are severel GT charters ex Cairns which will be more than willing to tke you out. A lot of the time it can be simply a case of talking to the operaters so your best bet will be to find a few and give them a call

Kerry Bailey of Blackout is one of the best. Great captain that knows the reefs very well.

I second the notion of kerry, i have been out with him before and he was really good.

Thanks for the replies. I did enjoy my time with Kerry at blackout last September.
I shared with another two so we ended up live baiting rather than popping. It was pretty successful with plenty of fish.

Finished the day with a 80kg hammerhead... Released.

Cairns will be a bit of a drive though.

 Akoonah looks like the go at this stage.

Honestly mate. Cairns is only a 40min drive from Port dougless. Don't let that put you off.
