Title: How good are Orion lures
Post by: Mark Armistead on July 01, 2011, 10:42:39 AM
I know i dont have to convince many of you on here on how good these lures are.
But for me they just continue to go from strength to strength. Over the last 12 months they have slayed the kings for us including one lure a Crazy GT which must have caught close to 100 good fish on its own.
In New caledonia we used a wide variety of lures but by day 4 there was one clear standout and that was a big sinking Namabas, the crazy was good but the Nambas was outstanding.
Every time an angler hooked up on this lure there was a moment of panic, not for fear of losing the fish but fear of being the one responsible for losing the gun lure. It ended up surviving our trip but got beaten up pretty bad, the very last cast of the trip it landed a 46kg fish.

Yeah I love them.

Bigfoot is my favourite but this year I have some nice Numbas for Buggati.

Is the garfish comp on Brandon..?

Hey Mark, I cant beleive that Crazy GT is still going - and it survived New Cal as well!  Is that the orange one?

Just waiting on my latest delivery of Orions to arrive, it includes Crazy's, Numba's and Big foots - nuff said!

Any idea what's the difference in action between the sinking Nambas and the bigfoot?

Looks like I might need to give Eric more business!

If the garfish comp is on, I've got Crusty's massive sidewinders... :o

My understanding is the Nambas are floating stickbaits.

Eric is a great guy - fortunately near enough that I met him last year at a show in France and picked up some more lures - just ordered some more last night for Cape Cod ...

He also does smaller sizes of stickbaits including a dinky 30g bigfoot - great for inshore stuff too!

I can't rate them highly enough - tough as nails with an action to die for!

I dont see the Crazy GT lure being refered to in this post on Erics site - is it also called the Crazy Dog or is it a different lure?

Would love to see a pic of one!

The lure was originally called the Crazy Dog until Eric made it into GT sizes where it then had a name change to Crazy GT.

On my recent trip, when fishing was slow the good old trusty bigfoot230 came out to play. First cast bang! Hook up right next to the boat. Drag scream out loud. Snip! Snip! Big foot gone  :(
Dam Mack attack!

Le Bigfoot never fail....

On a trip in March this year same thing happened in Fiji, I was saving the lure to use and on the 4th day and didn't think much of it, I had no idea how to work the Orion Bigfoot 190 and two casts in I didn't own one any more. A Big GT wanted it more than me!

Heres a sample of a gew pictures of the Crazy in action, as you can see it is one very effective lure.
Here in NZ it along with the Nambas are fast becoming the go to lures for big kings (along with the mighty Gamma).
