A few members asked me the Fiji trip info. I'll give some general info about the trip with some pictures.
We fished several different areas out of Tagveuni, Fiji for 5 days. For the first two days, we went to the area where they made nice catches on previous trips, but we found fishing was slow though we lost three huge GT there due to various reasons.
On the third day, we went to the opposite direction to the other side of Qamea Island and had an excellent GT popping by getting over 30 hits and released over 15 GT even we are novice GT fishermen.
On the fourth day, we had to fish half days and stayed local as Capt John had other work in the afternoon.
On the fifth day, we ran 26 miles to fish underwater crater where John used to find bigger GT.
I got my biggest 80 lbs GT after I lost a monster. We released about 10 GT and missed many hits.
The lodge is not luxurious by any standard, but is well maintained with paroramic views. The host, Roberta, and her staffl are very kind and helpful. Capt John is very experience fisherman. Although he fished GT in Taveuni only for seveal years, he fished GT over 20 years in Kona, Hawaii. I didn't encounter Pamela over 100 lbs Gt, but I am pretty confident I could land her with Capt. John if I am given the chance to hook up her.

Hi Ksong. Hawaiian Fishing News covered a Taveuni trip as well. They made some reference to "Pamela" as well. Gather she left everyone dusted. Good to see that you had an exciting trip. Fiji is home to me.
