Title: Shallow water samsons off rotto
Post by: Marko Pekic on November 08, 2011, 12:01:42 PM
Hey guys done a couple days with saltwater charters for some shallow water jigging on my R&R as was just too rough for mi own boat. We tried the barges once and the sharks are real thick so no point going back there for a while. The sambos were good fun in 40 metres of water on pe4 but lost a few bigger brutals due to too lighter gear. My gf came out once and got onto a few aswell and is now a very sore girl :). They seemed to not want jigs at all on the first day and second time i went out they took the jig once. The thing they did like was 11 inch mccarthy soft plastics. Have a couple photos here.

Nice fish Marko, hopefully get stuck into a few of those myself this summer.

Pictures always make it look calmer than it actually is.

Cheers, just a pitty they werent smashing jigs. My mates were out in the 40s a week before and were getting smashed by jigs for hours on end. Hopefully they hang around in the shallows as its just a major shark problem at the wrecks.. sucksss..

alot of the times i was hookin up on the drop. But i got a few speed jigging like a normal jig but i got a few doing the slow thing to just a bounce bounce along the bottom so yeh i dont know it all worked that day :) They took a liking to the bigger 11 inch glow placcies though thats for sure.

There is plenty of girth there. Might drop some big plastics on the reefs in Sydney is year.  Hopefully the leathers don't demolish them too much this season.
