Title: Wilson Venom drag ratings.
Post by: Kevin Hulse on December 30, 2011, 11:56:47 PM
Hi all,

I've been looking at the Wilson Venom pe2-5 and pe3-8 jig rods but cant seem to find what their max drag ratings are anywhere. Has anyone one here seen or heard what they are? Or otherwise who has used them and what drag pressures are they capable of?

Thanks in advance

Kev

was looking at these 2 rods as well... what were you going to pair them with?

Hi Peter,

Not 100% on which reel I will be pairing it with yet. I'm going for an overhead but it isn't going to be a dedicated jigging set up as I will be using it for bottom fishing as well. So far its down to the Tyrnos 12 or the Saltist LD40H. The main reason I was looking at the Tyrnos is because of its 15kg drag to pull up reef fish away from the coral while bottom fishing (unsure if the PE2-5 would handle 15kg) but the Saltist is lighter and probably a more comfortable reel to fish with (and more suited to jigging).

So still up in the air at the moment. Suggestions/opinions welcome.
