Right guys,
Now I use the ST66 range of trebles, I have yet to try any of the ST76 range so I have few questions regarding the 76 range.
- Does the hook gape change? Or is a 5/0 76 the same as a 5/0 66?
- Is the hook a heavier gauge of wire? Does anyone happen to know the difference in grams between the 66 and 76?
I am trying to tune in some lure's and I don't want to buy the ST76's if there is nothing different, I am happy with the ST66 but am curious of the difference.
Peace ;)

Hi Sam
The weight of a ST66 5/0 is 11 grams according to this: http://thevagabondfisherman.blogspot.com/2010/12/treble-hooks-xxl-misure-confronto.html (http://thevagabondfisherman.blogspot.com/2010/12/treble-hooks-xxl-misure-confronto.html)
I just put one on the scale which was 12 grams - so around that.
The ST76 5/0 is around 19 grams according to the link. I don't have any of these, so can't weigh it for you. The Recorder 7/0 is around 19 grams on my scale as in the link, so his given weights should be farely accurate.
Kind regards,
Peter

Sam, the gape is pretty similar on an ST66 and ST76. The wire gauge of an ST76 is considerably thicker though (+/- 20%).

Mate, I would recommend you buy a pack, they are too different to analyse on paper/screen.
They are about as heavy duty that a manufacturer could ever make for a given gape, ratio and overall size/weight.

Hello,
personally I find:
GT recorder 7 / 0 = 18g
GT Recorder 6 / 0 = 15 g
Decoy 10 / 0 = 22g
Decoy 8 / 0 = 17g
Owner ST 76 5 / 0 = 18g
Owner ST 66 5 / 0 = 11g
Curiously in the Andaman Islands in 2008, I was fishing at the time with owner ST66 5 / 0 and I have opened more than 10 :-[ and not always on big GT, why, I do not know, manufacturing defect ?

Didn't realize Owner trebles were made in China. I swear the packs I recently bought say made in Japan. Oh well....

Sam, if you are producing lures, you really have to just get the ST76. It's the only way to judge how they feel and look on a lure. Weight and specs can only tell you so much.

Agreed, I will get some in and see how they go ;)

Thanks for all the reply's guys,
Brandon, I just had a look and found I had some ST76 4/0's, definitely a different hook when compared to the ST66... Kinda makes the ST66 look "skinny" although I have no issues with the ST66 as they serve me well...
I need to get in some ST76 5/0's and test them out, I used some ST76 4/0's on a new stick bait yesterday, swam good but did look different with the "heavy duty" hooks, not a big deal more so what I'm use to looking at.

I need the big treble for a popper that runs just the treble on the belly, but I still need to try a "baker" on the belly too as I have a thing for single hooks ;D
