Title: St Maarten
Post by: Michael Evans on February 07, 2012, 03:36:40 PM
All

I am fortunate enough to be going on a "work" trip to St Maarten (Caribbean) in early May.

Has anyone been/fished here before?

Specifically interested in information or advice on species/tackle/charter options for cast fishing (poppers etc vs. trolling/jigging).

Any information would be most appreciated

Mick

I have been spending the winter season in St maarten for the last 4 seasons and we are here now. The fishing opportunities are endless but finding an operator to take you popping and jigging is going to be the hard part. I don't know alot about the operator's on the dutch side but I know the boat follow me does alot of jigging. He is in Marina Fort Louis in Marigot.

I went past a school of YFT today that would have been a lot of fun on poppers and jigs but we had just made a 20 mile run in shit conditions so made the call to keep going. Managed a nice blue early on this morning.

If by some chance we are still here in may I will take you for a fish on our contender but I think we may be half way across the atlantic by then.
