Title: Natureboys RPS spool system drag ratings
Post by: michael north on February 18, 2012, 09:46:09 AM
Hello All,

Quick question, does anyone have a a drag rating for these spools. I am planing to get a stella 10k to go with my ep 85/36 and I'm tossing up between a som nl 16k or a natureboys RPS. I do like the idea of having multiple cassettes for the natureboys but the som is a tried and tested work of engineering art, and there appears to be no real drag rating whatsoever for the natureboys.

Can anyone shed some light on the matter.

Regards,

Mick

Nature Boys RPS spools are rated 20kg.
I have personally done a line pull test directly out of a locked drag RPS spool with full lines and it was reading at 18kg on the scale.
So i do suspect it goes far higher than the 20kg stipulated and is probably as much as the stock 18000 or 20000 Shimano spool.

I have one - I picked one up off Ah Gu recently in Singapore so will test it out and report back

Cheers brandon, the thread at the front looks quite fine that would be my only worry with them.
