Just did more of a family type trip to Fiji but the hopes were to snare at least a couple of Big GT's.
We stayed on Mololo Island which was a sensational holiday destination but probably not the best for those wanting to chase Big GT's.
From speaking to many of the islanders the GT popping tends to be best in the more Northern Islands which means quite a bit more travelling and is a tad more remote. This wasnt an option for me sadly as with a 17 month old daughter the travelling was hard enough.
I ended up spending quite a bit of time popping the shallow reefs with the lighter gear and had some awesome fun with Bluefin trevally, trout, cod and also managed what I think was a longnose emperor. The emperor on popper was a first for me and was a beautifull fish that gave a great account of itself.Hopefully will get away again soon and lock up to some big fellas.
Cheers
Pete
