Title: What to use for butt joints on 2pc rods
Post by: Ryan Theyer on May 21, 2012, 05:40:06 PM
Hey guys,

I am wondering if anyone can help me. I am looking at buying some sort of wax or graphite powder for lubricating the butt joint on my 2 pce rods. I know you can buy the Smith rod ferule wax but I can't seem to find anyone in WA who stocks it....

I was thinking of using graphite powder or a product called Drilube. The only thing I am worried about is the wax heating up and causing the rod to stick together??

What do you guys think??

Cheers  Ryan

Warm or Tropical water surf wax. I like the Sex Wax Quick Humps the best, or whatever else i can scrape off my boards. The wax's that are most opaque grip the best, try to avoid the ones that appear a bit translucent. Best part is you can find it anywhere and a whole bar only costs $2

Rub the rod end (the male segment) on your nose, the natural oils will take care of it.
No kidding, I am not making this up, read it on the 360 Tuna board and I have been using since - absolutely no problems at all.
It's free and always with you.

Note: do it before you slip-slop-slap  8)
