Hi all
I know this has probably been a previously discussed topic on here somewhere (tried a search, came up blank :-[)
What I would like to know is what are the main differences between the US version compared to the JDM version. There seems to be a substantial difference in price , I just haven't been able to work out why???

Exactly the same thing Doug bar the livery.

Thanks for that Mark. Looks like a change of colour does cost extra!!! ???
-
I wonder whether the key to the difference is in the SW.
I notice that on the Plat web site there is both normal and SW versions of the Stella, Twin Power and Biomaster. Actually the Stella that I know and love (the SW) has some features, like the round carbon handles as well as the 6000 models, that aren"t available outside Japan and are in the $1,000 ballpark.
Admittedly, it seems confusing.

Hi Doug,
As Mark said..mainly aesthetics..the cap/handle arm and knob are different..the Ultralight knob is $200.00 plus if bought separately, nice feel to them though
-
Hi Clem
I may be wrong , but the way I read it I don't think you get the carbon knob with the 18000 or the 20000 in The JDM model???

Actually I think you maybe right Doug...I keep thinking they all have them...I just changed out my JM ones to give these a go...certainly very well made and feel good in the hand

After using mainly Saltigas I agree the upgrade to a round type knob be it ultra light or the aluminum type is a great improvement on the standard Stella knob and would be almost a "must do" for me.
-
Don't assume that all JDM stellas come with carbon knobs. The last JDM SW18000 I bought had a standard knob (since changed).
-
Only JDM4000, 6000 & 8000 comes with carbon knob.
-
Thanks for that Allan.
I think there may have been a time when the bigger ones did as well or maybe it was some sort of promotion. I bought a JDM SW20000 which had a carbon knob on it at the Shimano dealer. That was some time ago though.
