Hello All,
I was curious to find out if any of us got out for a popping session over the long weekend? Brisbane had a reasonable friday so two friends and I went out for a early popping session, before the bay was full of boats. We were at the bar around 4.30am but were greated with a mess of 2-3 mtrs SE / ENE swell presenting us with a challenge, and in the dark, so we thought we would sit it out a little while which worked, the sun started to rise, and in no time we were out and the birds were showing us the way. It was very exciting to see a bust up of bait in front of us and to see at least two decent GT's creating havoc. Out went the poppers but sadly only yellow fin came on board, that's popping ah - The GT's figured there was enough food around not to try too hard and we had no luck in the GT arena. Plenty of fins and strippies on the poppers but as the boat owner wanted a feed we were then off to the shallow water to chase the kings and snapper, but I wont bore you with that.
A great day out was had and I would love to find out if anybody else got amongst it?
Peter

Being able to catch yellowfin on poppers can't be a bad thing! They normally don't go for big GT poppers

Been a bit too much breeze in Cairns lately, so I haven't had the boat out. Good weather coming up but will be stuck at work unfortunately. Got to jag some good weather sooner or later though

Hey, dont get me wrong I am not complaining at all it is all good. Yes Stephen, it is frustrating when you are stuck in a office looking at SeaBreeze and it showing you sub 10 knts and 1 mtr swell with sunshine, but I guess it makes those good days soooooo good. As for the snow Santosh, damn bro you can keep that....... I am back at work now thinking about the fact that this time yeterday I was popping longtails (thousands of them working) and jiggin up trevally - oh how good it can be, I need to win lotto bad....... you all understand.
