Title: Dampier, Westen Australia - Trailer Boat Popping
Post by: Brad.Bell on December 02, 2012, 06:07:15 PM
Well we were finally graced with the type of weather we need to get out for a bit of a local Pop, we headed out early this morning to catch the low tide.  We did pretty well with 3 good GT's from 20 - 28ish Kg's. We also had quite a few big fish strike but miss, webby was on fire landing a couple of solid macks, one of them would have gone close to 30 keggs.  Overall it was a pretty good day, home before lunch time...

Successful lures

Figured i would from now on just keep adding to the one thread, makes things a bit easier

Another pretty good couple of hours off Dampier this morning, boys landed a few fish in teh 20's and dropped another 3.  Was very humid, hot and hard work today.  Was worth it though, hope you enjoy some of the photos

Thought i would share the little story of a new GT popping addict

Have a mate phil who has just started popping, I dont think he realised how many fish we had on our doorstep here in the West.

Anyways, here are his first two GT's, ever.  no charter boat fish either, after a little bit of advice he did this on his own, that takes a little skill

Well done Browney!

A few small fish from another recent session of Dampier WA, the clear water and lack there of swell really slowed the GT's down.  Lots of half hearted follows on both sticks and chuggers.  Still managed a nice trout for dinner :)

Well have been back in WA for a few weeks now and i must say it is soo good living in a place again that has local GT action.  Had a pretty good little session today landing quite a few GT's with 4 of them being over 20 and up to 28 Keggs

Was a great day on the water, with a great return in the end

hope you enjoy some of the pics

What no new thread for every trip!! :P Loving the pics, the fish and most of all the WCP Poppers. Quality/finish of the lure is top notch and more importantly they are just so easy to use all day without burning yourself out. Well done to all Anglers involved and merry ho'ho'.

Very nice Brad, keep it coming, I wish I have the accessibility to such great fishing spots nearby.....lucky you
In the first page, I see that you are using upright single hooks on the back of some of your lures, which model and size are you using?
Title: Re: Dampier, Westen Australia - Trailer Boat Popping
Post by: Brad.Bell on December 21, 2012, 10:59:28 PM
Hello Mahmoud the singles i use range from 8/0 to 11/0 in both owner SJ41 and SJ51's mate depending on the lure.  I alway s put two splits on the lure so the hook point is facing up mate. Some of the boys i fish with prefer the hook point down but each to their own i say..

thanks for the positive comments

Couple more pics of late, the last shot is of a Local Dampier GT that had evidence of a fairly recent wound, looks as though it is healing nicely which was a good thing.
