Title: Popping The Monte's short film
Post by: Luke Ryan on March 21, 2013, 01:52:59 PM
Hey Guys

Just got back from a DIY popping trip to the Monte Bello's in my own boat last week. Fishing was real hard with green water and weed which definitely shut the fish down, however we persisted and managed to put some fish on the deck, I would say we lost about 65% of the fish we hooked due to the ground that we fished was quite shallow. There is definitely 40kg+ fish there without doubt but landing them is another thing!!
The light jigging for coral trout and rankin cod was also very good with the biggest trout measuring 75cm!

Great video, great fishing Luke, well done......I'd love to fish that place one day. :'(

Just a question on one of your rods, I also have the Saltiga BG 85S, which I plan to use here in Sydney on Southern Bluefin, Yellowfin and kings (maybe on GT"s one day as well) but unfortunately have not yet had the chance to fire it in anger.

How did you finds it's overall performance and capabilities with poppers and stickbaits on the GT's?, I know it is very diffent fishing of course, but just as a general guide.

Cheers

Ian
