i am liking the cape cod 80G, has anyone had much experience as far as using this particular rod for gt fishing? being rated for PE10 it should fish with PE8 just fine?
-
Sam,
The NS Black Hole Cape Cod Super Popping Special 80G is a nice all round popping rod, and I mentioned before here that it is possibly the best sub-$500 rod of its type I have used.
It fishes PE8 just fine. In fact I would say it is more a PE8 rod and than PE10.
Here is a video showing that rod in field action on a very large GT.

thanks mark!
ive decided im going to go with the cape cod but the twist is im buying just the blank from jignpop.com and i have a very good rod builder just up the road from me that used to design for lamiglass so im going to do a custom based on this blank hopefully it comes out sweet and not to pricey.
my build will be, black/grey/white cammo eva, fuji K sic's, alps aluminium reel seat in gunmetal grey, white bindings with gold trim and mabey abit of carbon around the reel seat for abit of bling.

Hi Sam,
Do yourself a favour and throw the alps reel seat in the bin, they're rubbish mate!
There's a reason why every top end rod has the Fuji graphite reel seat and its because they are light strong and the only way to go. From matagi you can buy the one with titanium hoods if your worried bout matching the guides.

i was wondering why no good rods came with them haha they look cool tho i reckon. so might just stick to the fuji with the extra lock right i wonder if its possible to strip the one off my demonblood and re-use it
