Good evening,
My fishing mate came with aide to go fishing in Floris or Komodo in Indonesia.
Does anybody have experience over there? We would like to catch GT,s and Dogtooth tuna.
I have heart that there is deep water over there. And strong current as well.
What would be the tackle advice for jigging and popping?
And is februari or march a good period?
Best regards,
Arnout.

Arnout. See: http://www.gtpopping.com/forum/index.php/topic,6640.0.html for a recent report on Komodo.
There are not really any well known A-grade spots around western Flores other than Komodo.
For Dogtooths in that part of the world your best bet would be the Alor Archipelago to the east of eastern Flores. Truly monster Doggies but very trying conditions there.
February and March are good times. There is some risk of serious storms associated with the western monsoon.

Hello Mark,
Thank you for your reaction.
I have read your report. what else did you catch exempt GT,s - Bluefin trevalley and Redbass?
The water looks impresif to me with that current.
Are there other people with experience over there?
Best regards,
Arnout.

It was a 100% top water trip Arnout. I would estimate 90% of the time was spent targeting GTs and 10% lighter top water where Bluefin Trevally very much dominated with the odd Red Bass. Also caught some undesirables like barracuda etc.

Yes. GTs in Komodo, and Doggies in Alor or Weta.
