Title: SOM 16k vs stella stock spool
Post by: Daniel Wen on April 13, 2014, 10:17:03 PM
Hi guys
sorry i noe this topic has been brought up loads of times... but i would like some confirmation :)

firstly ill be running this on a stella 10k XG for GTs. Gonna be running PE6

Do i really need the additional 50m of PE 6 the 16k gives me? Or will i be good running 250m of PE 6 on the 10k stock spool?

also in terms of casting distance, i would like to think that the stock reverse tapered spool lip would give additional distance... but seems like many people say the diff is not present/insignificant?

thks!

Fishing PE6 for GTs you are fine with the stock spool.  You will get about 220 metres of Varivas Avani GT max PE6 (for example) on the 10000 spool without overloading it.

Overall it's seen a significant improvement in line management (assisting the reduction of wind knots etc).
