Title: Carpenter Monster Hunter 80 H : lures
Post by: Michael Mancini on May 15, 2015, 01:24:44 PM
Hi Guys

I am now the proud owner of a MH 80 H. Jumped on the opportunity. ;D

What do you believe are the best lures to use with my new baby and a Stella 18000?

Thanks for your help

Michael,

Probably my favourite GT rod, no definitely my favorite GT rod.

Personally, I think it has a fairly broad band of effectiveness in terms of lure types and weight. It balances best though with 140g/200g stickballs and 120/180g poppers in my opinion. My first choice for that rod is a Gamma 160 (H) or a Hammerhead E Cup (145g) and I work outwards from there depending on the fishing and conditions.

Enjoy, you will.

Regards,

Trev

It will cast any weight lure you care to carry in your box, I use mine as a big stick bait rod and for poppers of all sizes

I can only speak for poppers, but the most appropriate size seems to be 150gr poppers. It works 180gr poppers very well, too. But I think in most cases 150gr is enough. Rather spend your energy on popping properly, than throwing big weights all day long. Try the Heru Cubera popper in 150gr. It's a perfect fit.
