Title: Some action from the west side - Dampier WA
Post by: Jay Burgess on September 23, 2008, 12:58:03 PM
Good weather & good tides last weekend so we headed out to one of our prefered spots off Dampier. These were the two biggest caught for the morning before the bite shut down.

Here's some pics from my latest popping session off Dampier. Gear I was using was a Carpenter SP78H-SHP and Stella 10000FA with PE8 YGK Castman.

Very tidy work man, is that your local area? I would love to have fishing like that in my region, but Sydney does have other things to offer, i guess...(none of which really make up for its lack of GT's)

Love the action shots mate. Stonkin fish! Is there any sort of land based access there?

Just a question Jay... in your first set of pics, I see you're using a Twinspin... how does it handle the job and what's your opinion of them?
I nearly bought one a while back and have always wondered how they stack up to a stella or saltiga.

The land you can see in the background is an island so the land based access is via boat only. I would think that it would be quite difficult to land fish from the rocks.

That's my fishing partner Glenn, not myself. In my opinion and from what little use I've had with it it's not quite as smooth as the Salties/Stellas but is more than capabable of handling big fish. He hasn't had any problems with it so far.

Thanks Jay... that's the sort of feedback I got and decided to stick with a Stella.
