Title: 2008 20K SW
Post by: Rohit Saqa Lal on October 30, 2008, 02:05:24 PM
Hi Guys
The new 10k appears MIA and no news on availability or firm pricing. My local has a new 20k in stock that I have been eyeing. I have the feeling that the 10k will come in aftrthe Nov price increase

The retrieve rate on the 10k is 119cm compared to 104cm on the 20k. I am only getting into the popping scene so I would really appreciate your opinions on how much of a disadvantage the 15cm difference in the retrieve rate will make. I can see the benefit of a bigger drivetrain with more torque and increased capacity and and the disadvantage of increased weight over the new 10k but less weight over the old 10k. I will also be able to use the same reel for jigging and trolling

So honest opinions please, how important is the 15cm of retrieve rate difference for popping. Your advice will be very highly appreciated

G'day mate
I'm only fairly new to the scene myself, but I do believe if the reel is intended for popping, it's actually the 18K that is actually the pick of the new Stellas.
However, because you mentioned jigging and trolling as well... as I understand it, the 20K would make the better allround reel.
Cheers Rob

Hi Rohit. Just get the 20000FA and use it for jigging and popping. A bit heavy but can't fault it otherwise.

if you want a big reel to do both popping and jigging, then get the 20000. It is easier to use the lower ratio reel to pop than it is to use the higher ratio reel to jig
