Hi all

I am planning to visit Andaman to check off dogtooth tuna
I need a fast jig rod of pe~6 for jigs up to 350g to be paired with stella 10k
I was thinking of fcl labo 54 or fisherman spinoza

What are your input?

Tackle & Techniques / Re: Rod for 150g poppers (<600$)?

Hi Chris,
Sorry, I am from Germany and only get the chance to fish for GTs once a year. Maybe I will test cast it in a local lake...

Ripple Fisher advertises it in a table as stiff rod for small, medium and large cuped poppers. They give a couple of examples for cup sizes.

Hi,
How do you find the Ripple Fisher PowerFight GT 711 Nano?
I would suspect is is well capable of larger poppers. What's the heaviest/largest cup you have effectively worked?
Cheers,
Chris

Tackle & Techniques / Rod Supply Crisis - Big Lure Casters
« Last post by Chris Webster on August 25, 2022, 12:32:41 PM »
Hi All...

Covid has impacted us all in different ways. Looking at the GT fishing industry, there seems to be a huge supply issue on the more high end rods.

Carpenters are impossible to get, Ripple Fishers are hard to get, with new players such as Zenaq having a steady supply, more so the Tobizo TC80-200, but im talking specific popper and stickbait rods here.

This being the case, what are you all using for your monster class, 180g - 200g+ poppers and stickbaits?
What's in your rod tube for that 65kg GT?

 Cheers

Tackle & Techniques / Rod for 150g poppers (<600$)?

Hi,
my Xzoga 7710 ( 7'7") broke at the handle. I think about repairing or replacing it.

What alternative would you suggest for poppers with 120-150g like e.g. Heru Cubera & Skipjack?
I don't want to fish bigger poppers. It should be fished from boat and shore. My second rod is a PE8 in 7'7" (Xzoga 7708).

At the moment I would consider anything below 600 US$/Euro (Smith, ASWB, Hots, TempleReef,...).

Edit:
Maybe one of those?

Hots, GIPANG RYUJIN, GT-79XH, PE 6-10, 230g MAX
TEMPLE REEF, GT EXPLORER, 80-10 PATHFINDER, PE ~10, ~190g
Yamaga Blue Reef 710/10 Chugger
...

Update:
I took the Ripple Fisher PowerFight GT 711 Nano as I didn't get the Yamaga for a good price.

Hi,
Thank you.
I ordered a FCL HJ 200 and 3 Nomad Madscad 190mm/160g, and I contacted Orion lures for some shallow running stickbaits.
