Tides and GT's
March 16, 2009, 06:13:44 PM
I'm booking a trip with Nomad in July on the new three day charter at the moment we have pick of any time in july just wondering what is the best tides to fish Bugatti Reef? I figure run up to the new or full moon, but with a 4m swing can you get to much current making fishing hard? Also any suggestions for lures at this reef.

Thanks

Jay

The best if when you have the highest or the lowest tide at mid day so there are current running all morning and all afternoon , GT stop feeding when the current stop running .

Jay,

I was filming on NOMAD in 2006 at Bugatti on the way to Marion.
The tides were lead up to the new moon.
In some places, with the engines knocked in REVERSE, we were STILL doing 9kn over ground........the current is amazing.
Funny though, it made looking for the better GT spots easier since the bait would just sit on the corners out of the flow.

I'd go around either new or full, as Jon said with a peak during the day to maximise the run of the tides

Aaron.
