They look cool and other boats think you no what your doing, have not ever had a braid cut ,although i really only use one and that is the left one or the hand holding the rod doesn't feel correct to wind with one on.Dad seems to use both gloves when using an overhead reel ,one thing i did notice on the JM rods is that the line is really close to the stick you would want to make sure you had your gloves on when jigging with theses rods i think the first eye is only a #20 ,don't know if this is good or bad but the T-Curve 400 starts with a #40 did not really sus this out before i brought them and don't really have much experience with whats wright or wrong referring to eye sizes.

Luke,
I have noticed on your picks you wear basically three sets of gloves, mainly the blue, long and short [Fisherman I presume]. Can you give us a run down on the benefits, if any, on both , IE do the long wrist gloves give noticeable support, comfort or benefits, and your personal preference.
I haven't used gloves enough to form any opinion, and if anything I've shied away from them, but things are changing. :-\
  • light & supple
  • dry well
  • good ventilation
  • good grip
  • generally well fitted if you get the correct size
  • long-lasting if you look after them and clean correctly

Yep, really short, just fit over wrist. Sometimes forget they're on, expensive though, as always.

Neil,

Do you stock Fisherman gloves?

If so, could you please post some info?

We did some time ago, but the problems with the lack supply from Fisherman made me throw the towel in.

I notice that the the gloves in the pics at the start of the thread have 'smooth' finger tips - i was looking at gloves a while ago and was put off the owner and saltiga's due to the re-inforced finger tips. For mine, i thought that they'd be a problem in catching line while casting. I opted for some bluefever 3/4 gloves instead so that it's easier to tie knots and change lures by having the finger tips free. The glove is reinforced with kevlar between thumb and forefinger - definately no more scute cuts for me. nice price too.

any reason why motorcross gloves cannot be used.

I have only used some fox gloves once but after a kingie jigging trip recently where I got over 15 fish my hands are full of little braid cuts and my left thumb now has no fingerprint left... :(

Cam where do you get this stuff in nz? ???

I think Cams already headed up to The King of Coromandel comp. :-\
The gloves he uses are the Smith Camo he bought from Duncan at Fishhead in Aus last year while on a tackle shop crawl , he would know about mountain biking and skate boarding gear from his 'Xtreme' youth days, and from collecting stickers, 'loves them stickers' ::).

Also get a lot of gear from Wellsys tackle in Aus
