one word comes to mind after looking at the photo's - simply and truly awesome.

Peter,

just to let you and everyone else know - i am honestly and seriously not being rude at all or anything like that what so ever,  and i am no expert fish/marine Biologist and i am not an expert fish analyst or anything like that,

from what i know - Tak's fish is a big and as u said fantastic Diamond Trevally.

Sam,
I dont think it is....I have caught some big diamond trevally before and this one looked considerably different.
I was talking about it with Brandon.
Here is a pic of a big diamond I caught and you can see the differences.

Taks one looked very different without the trailing fins etc that diamonds have.
Whatever it was it was a top fish.

Pete

my apologies.

Sam,

No need for apologies....

Its very easy to think they are the same fish.....my first thoughts were it was a diamond untill it was out of the water.

Thanks to Peter for the trip report and pics.  It was quite an experience to be fishing in an awesome place with great people & a great crew!  Can't wait for the next trip!  (hint, hint to Pat!)   ;D

Sami - Thanks!  I finally got my GT!  And yes, gotta love those Orion lures!   :)

You have probably figured it out by now but I am pretty sure that is an African Pompano (alectis ciliaris), aka Threadfin Trevally. I have never caught one that big though!

Very nice report - a pleasure to read.

Edit.. whoops.. see you already said it was a Pennant Fish... same thing..  :-[
