My personal experience is that there are no issues as long as the line is removed (or spools carried in checked in luggage). There have been a number of posts on this subject. Suggest you search previous threads.

I take the reels in the handluggage, but spools with line in luggage. No problems in amsterdam, singapore, denpasaar, houston and cancun

I alway care my reels with me in the hand luggage. The spools with line i put in the check-in luggage. The security might check the reels but i never had any problems with that.
