Finally had internet connection to put this report together.
Had a group of 5 guys from Singapore
Glen (organizer), Eugene, Shengyu, Jason and Ady traveled over 24 hrs to have a feel of what it is like to wrestle a Blue fin tuna.
We had 4 days on the calender but mother nature only allowed us 2 days to have a shot at "Charlie".........
We had more then what we asked for!
It was a windy morning at the dock but Captain Ned and Mate George from the Sea Breeze greeted us with their warm southern smile.
"it's gonna be a rough ride today, but they're here" Ned chuckle.
We reached the tuna grounds longer then usual with the turbulent sea.
Conditions were tough but the boys were all ready to catch their first blue fin tuna, "cast to the rear" yelled George!
Lures started whizzing through the wind and landing in different directions.

Tackle used -
Casting rods - Saltywater Tackle Race Point Rods, Carpenter EP82/38, Carpenter Prototype and Shimano Kaibutsu.
Jigging Rods - Saltywater Tackle OBX 500, MC Works SD538XX, JM 250, Genesis.
Reels - Shimano Stella, Ocea Jiggers, Daiwa Saltiga GT6000 and JM PE7.
Lures - Moutoukenmaru, Carpenter Gamma Saltywater Tackle Special.
Jigs - Shout Stay Jigs, Smith Nagamasa and Hot's Drift Tunes.

Mission accomplished! A monster 89 inch and 63 inch girth estimated at 441lbs caught on the Moutoukenmaru and released! Biggest caught on a casting outfit?!?

Day Two...

Glen on a fish again and this time on his trusty MC Works SD538XX jigging rod and Shout jig!
Unfortunately, the fish wins this time with Glen and I wondering what went wrong, maybe the hook pulled...

After seeing a couple of fish blew up on the surface, i launched my prototype Carpenter lure with a prototype Carpenter rod that Konishi-san left for us to try out...
Fish On! The rod took some very serious pressure and i am extremely impressed with the power and comfort of this new rod!
Fought the fish freestyle for a good 40 odd minutes, had it to color but unfortunately the fish heard the roar of the engine and decided to make a last dash for freedom, that last attempt was more then i could handle alone and had Eugene helped me out a little.
Some quick snaps from the camera and the fish was released to fight another day.
Nailed the beast at last and measured 87 inch and 60 inch girth.
Would loved to have a lap shot but there was no way in the world my legs will hold up to a fish 3 times my weight!

After an amazing 2 days, the guys are ready and eager for more pain and have made plans coming back next season for another shot at these magnificent creatures.
Time for some dinner!
