Carpenter TBL 80/40 will manage as will Ripple Fisher Ultimo 79H
If it swims; I want to catch it!

The TBL 80/40 works great. So does the DJ 83 MH.

Upping the ante a bit - what would handle a Gamma 250?

Asking just a bit too much of these two rods although I think the 79M almost manages to cast this beast. I tend to go to a Monster Hunter 80H for this.

Alex, I would say a Gamma 250 is just beyond the sensible casting weight of DJ83MH, and I would use MH80H.

Well, I wouldn't even consider the DJ83 if I was looking for a specialist stickbait rod. If you want to get into multi-purpose rods, you start to bring other rods into the equation like the FCL UCB81 or the Ripple 79R and the list goes on .....

I feel the 79H is slightly stronger down low. Not much in it though.

Sorry i didn't know that DJ83MH wasn't a specialist stickbait rod.
I'm looking for something that can cast well and have abit more power down low. As i would be fishing shallow waters for GT.

Yeah DJ83MH is an all-rounder Kenny. As Ben said though, it is does work large stick baits nicely.  And it definitely has loads of power down low.

Hi Kenny,
Sounds like you want the fcl78h. Probaly the most powerful dedicated stickbait rod on the market (22kg drag rating) and perfect for 200 gammas. Get in touch with Duncan at fishhead.

Some good feedback chaps! - I felt the MH80H was a bit overloaded when I tried it - certainly had to lob it rather than fully wind it up :s

May look at the 79X or 79E?
