Twin Power PG Parts
January 26, 2014, 10:51:25 PM
Hi Folks

I have an old and faithful Twin Power PG 8000 for the last 10 years.  She's needing some TLC.  Does anyone know where I can get parts?  The gears seem to be in good shape but the drag guts need replacement.  I've attached some pictures.

Thanks
Brian

You can cut new washers from carbotex sheet. Try calling shimano, parts may still be available.

I tried a tackle shop in Singapore by email.  They got back saying Shimano didn't have the parts. Maybe someone in Australia.   i think asia and Australia were sold these reels, I don't think they were sold in US.  There is a good following of satisfied fisherman for this reel.

I'll keep looking and post back.

The 2002 Twinpower 6000FB, which was sold in Australia, has an identical drag stack, I think, though you'd best clarify with Shimano Oz. I've used parts from the 6000FB on my Japanese 8000PG before. I'd also recommend replacing those brittle dartanium washers with some carbontex.
Best wishes

Hi Andy ,

I am pretty sure some of the components of TwinPower is shared with the Stella of the same general period n size , I had my '96 issue of STL10000PG ( 5:1 ) converted into STL10000HG ( 6:1 ) by using components from 10000HG , it's a matter of matching the components and repairman can do it easily , just take a little bit of time .

Jon .

Thanks for the info guys.  I'll try to get in touch with Shimano OZ and see what happens.  I'll post good or bad.
