Smith WRC Ichiban 7,7" PE-8/10 cw 200g
February 02, 2015, 06:11:31 AM
Any one that have any experience with this rod and how is it compared with the Tokara 60.?
Looking for a backup rod to a trip to Kirinda Sri Lanka. I know about a used one.
I will use Stella 18000 sw and pe-10 braid.
Main rod will be Ripplefisher GT78 Flex but budget wont allow to Ripplefisher right now..
Fish isnt caught from the couch you got to be there....

If the Ichiban don't happen, I have a spare Carpenter Monster Hunter 80h you can borrow.

I have the Smith GTK-77BG Keyolhu and on paper this and the WRC Ichiban are identical in specs, perhaps the Ichiban was made for the European market?

The Tokara is a far more powerful rod being PE12 and casting up to 250g, I am sure some anglers that have used this rod can attest to the power of it.

Cheers,

Ian

FREDERIC,
I have a Keyolhu and I fished with a Ichiban and a Tokara, this one is significantly more powerful than the first two on paper and in the hands  ;) both in the fight with a fish, in animated large poppers and launch lures (english ???)
Personally, despite my age (73) I have not found the Tokara tiring, I should have bought the Tokara instead of the Keyolhu

In late March I will be at Kirinda with my Fisherman TRSH and my Carpenter Coral  Viper  :)
