Re: Waterproof Back Pack

"The minimalist design and weight make this a pack you can carry all day long. Though the Cor13 has no external frame, it is very comfortable. The padded back with ventilation channels provides efficient air circulation. The anatomically contoured shoulder straps and chest strap are individually adjustable, and keep the pack close to your body. The waterproof nylon fabric is extremely abrasion resistant and gives the pack its low weight (only 700 g/24.5 oz.). Helmets may be stowed under the adjustable and removable front flap with large reflective print. The main compartment houses a sewn-in organizer for the inclusion of an optional hydration system. It goes without saying that the Cor13 is well suited for hiking and ski tours. Snowboarders can fix their board under the front flap, and will enjoy the Cor's perfect fit during freeriding.

Further features: waterproof TIZIP zipper | zipped valuables pocket inside flap (not waterproof!) | sealable aperture for hydration tube | tube clip on shoulder strap | key ring inside"

This looks great too for a roll-up option and including a lightweight internal frame and some additional support/padding for all day wear.

Luke apparently both the Simms and Patagonia zip ups are 100% waterproof...

Granted I wouldn't want to load them with $10000 worth of camera gear and swim them to 3 metres deep and leave them there... :)

But as a waterproof pack, that you would be wearing/using on the flats or an open boat in rough seas etc, where it will get splashed a lot, or even completely drenched ( surf fishing, or swimming across a channel whilst flats fishing ) they are perfect..especially if you need to access the compartment to get stuff regularly... thats where the roll tops fall down in my experience... they are a nightmare to access anything whilst standing in knee deep water... Only draw back I can see is they don't have a Hydration/bladder pocket which is kind of essential for flats fishing in my opinion..

That Core Pack looks pretty bad ass as well..

Thanks Dan. Had a look at those too and seen them with customers out in PNG.

I think the fasterns, fittings and lack of extra anchors or tie points is what lets down a lot of the bags. The Ortleib looks to be a cut well above - obviously at a premium.

Will be reporting back if I get a hold of one!
