Orion Cono Cono and Orion Flapper.
September 29, 2009, 10:42:29 AM
hi Guys.

with-out being rude,  I am just wondering what are all the size's that the Orion Cono Cono and Orion Flapper are available in?

I am not 100 per cent sure my-self being a newbie to GT Popping but I am guessing that the Orion Flapper is a skipping (pencil) popper,  would i be correct,   or   is the Orion Flapper a stickbait?

also,  has anyone used and does anyone use the Orion Flapper in New Cal,  what size range and quality of any fish do you catch or which can be caught on the Orion Flapper in New Cal?

thanks alot for your help. :) :) :) :)

ConoCono comes in 150, 180/190 and 220
Flapper comes in 130 and 180/190

Flapper is used like a pencil popper - just don't forget it sinks if you leave it!
I have used the Flapper quite extensively in NC and other locations.

One can't simply state that a lure will catch a certain size of fish, Sam! I've caught fish ranging in size from about 10-40kgs on Flsppers.
If it swims; I want to catch it!

You're right there Brandon. I don't know about those particular lures but I've had frustrating days up the West Coast of Oz with these little cod the same length as the popper hitting everything. They feel like weed. So frustrating you have to move on. I liked to try and match what bait schools were around at the time. Same with Tuna.

I really like catching a fish that is the same size as the lure! The best capture I ever saw like this was on a trip off Fraser Island when we were jigging for amberjacks. The guy I was jigging with pulled up a pearl perch that was about 15-20cm long. Considering he was using a big Smith Nagamasa, the lures was double its length!

Sam, the Flapper is a favourite of mine - a great lure

Another annoying little creature off the West coast is the Seargent Baker and it's ugly little toothy cousins. Dropping big knife jigs in 150m and feeling the slightest bump and again feeling like weed and having to drag it up and finding a little grinners head impaled on the assist hook sometimes body attached sometimes not. But the Honeycomb Cod of the shore are the worst. They are so thick and with such big mouth they hit anything. Gotta give them points for trying.
