how long do you run your leaders?
November 24, 2009, 08:28:47 PM
Hey guys, I know it depends on location and size of fish, but how long do you generally run your leaders? For those that like to run longer leaders i.e- casting so your leader connection is in the guides or on the spool when you cast, what connection do you use?

I use a pr knot, but am afriad that after so many casts the knot degrades, although ive had pr knots that are many sessions old that havent failed. Do you find the knot will last a few sessions from the damage done to the knot during casting.

I've also had a few occasions where the knot hits a guide and the braid wraps around a guide, could lead to damaged or lost lures, any way around this problem or is it a fact of popping life?

Cheers

I use twisted leaders and I was going to do a post similar to yours Gavin.

For those using twisted leaders how long do you generally make them..?
I make mine about 8ft....But was considering making some shorter for use with a komodo dragon as its a shorter rod at 7'6.....?
