Eventually through a combination of luck, skill and knowledge we happened upon a patch of reef which had good current flowing over it and there were fusiliers and other smaller bait fish all over. Needless to say first cast and my Orion Bigfoot got swallowed up in a ball of white water and angry GT. I managed to get my second biggest fish of the week a nice GT between 28-30kgs.

Tim as a guide came into his own. He would tell you exactly where to cast and if you hit it on the spot more often than not you would be rewarded with at least a splash on the lure.

Marvelous report and pics there Dorian, thanks for sharing!

Some fantastic looking fish in that lot. Would've loved to see that GT get completely airborne too...great stuff.

Do the Nomad guys suggest rigging all poppers with assist hooks on the front eyelet these days?

Cheers
Angus

Most of them they do seem to rig that way, however they were also using the two belly hooks with a cable tie as well.

Whichever way they rigged it, the fish could still grab the lure and not touch a hook lol

Indeed i believe Tim said it was being tried out...The Cage was a very good addition and really helped with giving that little bit more room when landing fish and flinging lures

Excellent idea to open up options at the back of the boat. We had 4 large anglers casting from the contender last year in atrocious conditions at Elusive/Marion and found it rather tight.
