Nathan. A lot of the places we fish are reasonably shallow 45m and they swim off well in that sort of depth. In the deeper water we encourage guests to wind them up slowly once the fish is obviously beaten to allow them to decompress a bit, some swim away and others need to go down on the release weight, the bigger fish seem to need a lot more work than the smaller models. It's hard to say exactly what the survival rate is but the absence of fish floating up is a great sign, as is the number of multiple hookups we get. We are also going to start tagging dogtooth as soon as i get some more tags, and i have a group interested in satellite tagging them which would be a fantastic way of getting accurate information on how our release techniques are working as well as finding out if they travel much.
