Re: Treble size for FCL EbiPop Extreme 120?

Hi Mark

Not sure where you got your pricing for Ebi 120ext at $80.      $59 at fishhead.

To me
Budget is say under $30 ie Halco Roosta, River2Sea Dumbbell
Mid range say $40-$70 Heru, Adhek at around $50 dollars and Orion, FCL around that $60 mark
High range, well how much are you willing to pay

Brandons well written 'bible' on Recommendation for poppers sums it up perfectly. http://www.gtpopping.com/forum/index.php?topic=1124.0

These are retail prices. If you are lucky enough to know Adhek or other manufactures in indo and 'get looked after', well lucky you. ;)

Ah, I was looking at the Nomad price :) .   See: http://www.nomadtackle.ashop.com.au/p/992487/fcl-labo-popper---ebi-pop-extreme-120g.html , $79.95

Lures like Adhek will be much, much cheaper in their country of origin, as are the Japanese lures.  It's not a matter of being "looked after" (other than prototypes for testing, I don't ever remember receiving a free lure from any manufacturer which is the way it should be), rather the prices are just naturally much lower.

Also, in Indonesia, you will find some imported lures at very good prices sometimes. For example,  I was not the only member of this forum who took advantage of the very cheap Patriot Design Mastered Bomb 155s (about $65) that were recently available from a tackle store in Denpasar.

Also, of course, there are high quality Australian-made lures such as Full Scale and ASWB which should be naturally cheaper in Australia than overseas.

I have to say, my own buying habits are sometimes driven by availability and not price. I have for example recently bought a bunch of Craftbait and Hammerhead lures from sources that are 20-30% more expensive than ones I have used previously.  But the lures I wanted were only available from the higher priced sources.  Supply and demand :).

I'm not sure about ASWB but fullscale seem to be the same price no matter where you look, personally i think that is a good thing. ie kong 180 about $85-89 in aus, usa and sgd.

Anyway back to Guys question, Shogun 7/0 or ST66 5/0 are fine

As promised, here are some pics for reference.

One is the lure with hooks: Shogun 7/0 treble on belly and Shogun 8/0 single on rear.

And then there is a couple of shots of the hooks.  Shogun 7/0 on the left and Owner ST-66 6/0 on the right.

Nonetheless, based on the feedback I've had I'll venture out with the lure as-is with the 7/0.

It's worth noting here that the Fish Head guys have contacted me and were genuinely concerned that I was not happy.  This is certainly not the case.  The question was asked as an information gatherin exercise.  All things considered though, I must tip my hat to the Fish Head guys and the quality of theshow they run.  It's fantastic to see that "service" still exists.  Even if it is in remote pockets  ;)
