Progear is an independant reel engineering company that has been around for years in the USA. JM designed the reel and conducted the R&D.
The reel certainly does share features of Accurate, Shimano OJ, SOM BlueHeaven. Basically in the design phase we (JM) highlighted what were the pros and cons of the current reels we were using and designed a reel with these points in mind.
There will be further releases of a range of smaller and larger sizes, twin drag models, twin drag kits for existing models, longer power arm aftermarket and T-Knob aftermarket.
After a good seasons thrashing I have been very happy, in my view all jigging reels should have long aftermarket cranking arms fitted and doing so to mine increased performance and reduced fatigue. There's still a couple of minor changes we would like to see incorporated............but Americans know everything..............
Furthermore I have priced them to penetrate the market and as such they should retail cheaply (by comparison to the competition) Don't ask me, that's for retailers.
