jetty popping
January 26, 2009, 11:58:53 PM

hey guys just thought i would share with you some pics from a couple of morning sessions throwing
poppers around at a local coal loading jetty over the weekend, this is the first time i have
fished this area and what i saw was impressive  in 2 morning sessions totalling about 6 hours
fishing we caught 11 gt ranging from 15 to 20kg with the biggest one estimated at about 25kg
there were plenty more there and we never went more than 5 or 6 casts without a strike , we only
got blown away once but it was from a beauty  we never had a chance when he smashed the popper
  5meters from the pylons

Our Iron Ore wharves in Dampier (WA) have their fair share of GT's too. Last time I was working on the dolphins there was bait everywhere and I saw an estimated 40kg GT. Later that day my mate called me back to tell me that he saw one much larger  :-\ Average size would be around 15kg though with plenty of queenies and small macks too.

hey luke  the popper in pic was one we were using on the queenies they were smashing up the
bait out wide of the jetty awesome fun, we were using cubera 150s and jai poppers
did manage to snap that little popper on a smaller gt later that day !!

hi jay sounds like we fish similar type of country except we about as far away we could be in
australia (i live in ayr north qld) :) its hard work when a fish nails the popper next to the
pylons, i have a friend who works on the jetty and sends photos on his phone of when the gts
are hanging around usually when the weather is good on a weekday and i am at work  :( :(

was a good weekend of practice for shoalwater in a couple of weeks only booked in last week
so might be a little underdone in the fitness department :D

             cheers john
