Everyones "Light" Outfits?

Steering away from the Stella's and 100lb braid
Just curious as to what everyone is using as their "light" spinning/casting setups, around the 20-30lb(PE 2-3) mark? for targeting Tuna, Mackies, Trout and various Trevally with lures up to 40g.

Would love to see some pics of your best captures on these outfits

Would also like to hear some general feedback and whatever mods you might have made to the reels.

Interested because i've just purchased a Nitro Mag Butt for this exact task but am unsure about the reel.

well....cant go past the certates in the mid price range and then there's the up-spec certate customs and hyper. Otherwise in the Shimano camp...Spheros, Saragosa, and upwards are all pretty good atm.

For PE 2-3 casting....Ive got a Dorada 80s coupled to a Certate 4000 or Stella 5000FA. The same reels are also used on light jigging rods, Eupro Salty Fighter and Etuoh Jig Force. Anything lighter I use either my Heartland Z Finesse Special or Alpha Tackle's Trinis bass rod.

To be honest I thought Med popping outfit is PE4-6.....which mine is a Shimano Caranx Kaibutsu Pencil Instrument with a Stella SW8000PG (oldie) loaded with PE 4 (64lb)

I've got a TwinPower 5000FC with PE3 Varivas Avani Jigging PE3(35lb) on an Xzoga Taka-Si6013 PE3 rod. This is a light jigging rod but at 6ft it can cast metals and light poppers.

Gotta agree with Honsu though, med popping to me is PE4-6.

I have a 4000 Certate and a Smith WGJ-XS610L. It is 6 ft 10 inches and is rated for PE2-4. Am running PE3 on it.
The combo is light to cast and good for small poppers, soft plastics, metal etc.

For me its a stradic 6000 with 2 spools, one 50lb tufline the other 30lb nitlon (i think).  Then a stradic 4000 with 14lb tufline. They get bolted onto various rods depending on the application - high end offerings like silstar powertips for tuna casting etc  They'll be being relegated to the lender box soon though, am rather sold on high end/high quality gear at the moment.

Not exactly light but I have a STELLA 8000FA on a Saltiga TN80 with 65lb Tuf  line set up for medium - casting work.

My light popping outfit is a Carpenter BC75MH + Twinpower 4000HG filled with Tuftline XP 30 lbs. , can cast up to 60 gr. lures comfortably . Have caught 20+kg YFT but almost got spooled on the first run , have caught numerous numbers of mahi-mahi up to 12 kg with this outfit and used extensively for sailfish popping .

I use a saltiga Z4000H and a pioneer GT Striker 40lb  out fit. Its a good combo, and im very impressed with the pioneer, great bang for the buck!

Saltiga 4500H with 40lb matched with a TBL80/20RF, great outfit & alot of fun.

Medium popping rod I use a Saltiga 80tn...Gotta say I love using this rod.

As I do alot of landbased spinning for tuna,mackies and GT's I just purchased a 'Zenaq' Defi Muthos from 'Fishhead' which is 9'6 rated PE 3-5.
MAN what an awesome rod it is for throwing 85g metals and similarly weighted poppers.

The Zenaq sounds ideal for casting off the rocks Peter. I was using my Saltiga 80tn around the cape in Byron and it was just a bit short fir the ledges around there.

Ewan...I used my saltiga 80tn off the rocks quite successfully on longtails,queenies etc.
But yes you do sacrifice some casting distance.
The zenaq was just what I wanted.
