A Little bit of Jigging Fun

Guys, 

Thought I would post the results of a couple of hours jigging from the weekend.  Went out with a mate in his new 26' Blackwatch (I think) chasing snapper at Deep Tempest (south of Cape Moreton which out from Brisbane for those who don't know the area).  We got a few snapper and a couple of pearlies on bait, but things were pretty slow.  Anyway I was able to convince the crew that we should try the wreck of the St Paul so I could get the jigging gear out.  Anyway I was able to finally christen my Ripple Fisher Amberjack 55 with its namesake.  The only problem was it was only around 40cm long so it wasn't able to put up much of a fight on PE8.  I ended up with one reasonable amberjack of around 8kg, about a dozen little amberjack, a small king and a mack tuna (sorry no photos).  A couple of the other guys had a shot as well and got a couple of small ones too. 

I think I need to invest in a PE4 outfit and maybe even PE2 for a bit of sport.....

I must say it was good to actually catch a fish as last time I went out I had an absolute shocker!!!

Im with Brandon on this one,although a mate of mine did use my Daiwa Cerate 3500HD while we were jigging in Coffin bay for samsons and he dropped down a Gillies Octa Jigg and managed a good 35kg or more Samson fish,i had 20lb Suffix Braid on the reel also!!

True, it is a PE3/4 outfit I am attempting to build.  I have put the reel seat and grip assembly on, but I seem to have slowed down a bit since.  It is coming along better than I thought so far, but I'm not finished yet!!!

I have in my mind the idea of getting an 8k Stella PG, and getting a 10k spool so it will be a PE4 and 6 reel.  I had better start saving......
