obviously for a reel seat? A 20 sized Fuji is about the smallest reel seat you'd go to but 22 is better

Thanks Neale, much appreciated. Thats the same length that I have on a Spheros 18k FB

Brandon, yeah mate. Playing with some seats. Trying for a really slim and lightweight piece and this spheros fits down to a size 17 seat

ok - just remember that a heavy reel like an 18 or 20k will mean a fair bit of stress for the reel seat, especially with the weight of the braid used. You will need to balance the desire for lightness with the strength of a heavier seat

agreed, so I took the vaneers to a size 17 and 20 DPS seats.
The pipe wall thickness excluding the thread ridges on both barrels are identical at 0.60mm
The pipe wall thickness including the thread ridges on both barrels are 1.49mm on the 17 and 1.51 on the 20
The wall thickness along various points of the nuts and hoods on both are identical too
The 17 is 119.3mm long and the 20 is 129.4mm long

So looks pretty good so far. I saw a recent failure on a very exy OH jigging rod rated to PE8 where the manufacturer had used a TDPSD size 20 trigger seat. Under strain the hood on the trigger end had split over the top. On these seats the fixed hood does not feature the metal reinforcing skin over the fixed hood. I think the key strength in the DPS shape is the binding effect this steel skin cushoined with nylon has on the reel foot and not the custruction of seat boddy itself. The walls on the barrel are so thin that the shape can be easily deformed by crushing with the thumb and forefinger and this flex becomes more evident as the seat size goes up
