Jigging Outfit
October 12, 2009, 08:50:02 PM
Hey guys,

Me and my father will be getting a new boat soon.

looking at getting into some of the jigging available out from brisbane accesible to a 5.5m centre console.

I am thinking something like a 4500 Saltiga with a 100-250gram Maria steady jigging or maybe a HOTS fake lez.

basically i want something in the 80-200gr jig range to jig up anything from snaps and pearlies to a few kingies and AJ's.

what do ya think?

Thanks guys
Tom

I have a 4500 blast matched to a 200g jigging master powerspell rod and its the perfect combo for chasing snaps on plastics and slowing jigging pearlies up to your faster mechanical jigging for AJ's and kingies. So far, the outfit has managed a 13kg kingie (no worries) and hopefully next season i will hit the 20kg club....bought the rod from http://www.huntingfishingandcamping.com/. Apparently he is getting in over 100 rods and reels from JM in the next couple of weeks so i'm just saving my pennies. Good luck with it!

Hey Tom, you might want to check out the Salty Extreme Combi Jerk 64.  It's a little longer than most jig rods, which makes it slightly more useful for heavy plastic and bay rubber work as well.  Does a great job with the jig weights you mentioned and can really put some hurt on a fish.  A great all round jig rod with a bit of length.  Having said that, I also use a JM 200 which is great on the metals in that range and easier to work with the shorter length if you don't want it to double for short casting or plastics.  Both are ideal match for 4500 size daiwa reel.
