Well Dave,

Not much else to say really is there!

Congratulations on a spectacular trip and a mammoth fishing effort, too bad about the lost monster on a broken hook.

Cheers
Andy

PS did you fish Fiji with Sami?? If it was you then you must be due for a mediocre trip some time...haaaaaaa

Hi Guys,

Hello Darren - Yes I snapped a Wild Violence !!!  The tip section ripped out through the handle when I set the hooks on a fish 50 meters away.  The tip was very firmly in the handle section and all nicely waxed etc so not a user error !!

Hi Andy - Yes that was me out with my man Sami in Fiji !  Two great trips in a year.  For what its worth I do have the odd poor trip too - had a week in Oman ruined by red tide last year.

Hi Jay - The weather was pretty interesting we had 35 knot winds for a few days and fished in some mountainous seas!  Not sure whats happened with some of the pictures they look fine on my PC and in photobucket.  I've probably done something wrong smewhere - I thnk the images which look a bit naff were all from the same camera - I'm sure someone with better technical knowledge can put me right on where I've gone wrong...anyone?

Hello Neale - I caught most of the fish on Orion Cono-Cono's and Big "Feets".  One of the guys who joined the trip was a lure manfacturer (Patrick Sebile) he gave away a fair few lures...so I gave them a try!  The oragne popper is a Sebile splasher - worked pretty well - I would say its a decent popper for calmer conditions - very easy to work.  Maybe not so good in a wave - I also had a couple of fish on one of his stickbaits (stick shad)which did have a very nice action.

Cheers   Dave

Nice CR, well done mate, looks like you had a great time! I will try to assit you with the picture problems, if I may. If you click on the pic, you will be given the file path (Where is it located). I understand from the path that the pictures was loaded in Photobucket album under caranx50 title. The uploaded size is at 800 pixels height, varies on the width, that's okay.

If you click on the picture property, will find the file size significantly smaller on the pictures that are pixilatted as compared to your better ones. What I think happened is that the pixelatted ones were over compressed hence, effecting the final image. If you have edited or corrected the pictures, you will be asked to save in Maximum, High, Med and Low. The image quality saved was too low, therefore the file size was smaller and pixellation occured, so to speak.

All is not lost, you just to start from the original pictures in your memory card again. Perhaps saved in a higher resolution. Try to shoot always in the highest resolution the camera can handle, there are 2 areas you need to take note of; Image Quality and Image Size. You can select highest quality with a preferred image size for your needs. BTW, the pictures that are pixellated came from a different camera and they were all from that same camera, check your camera settings, perhaps. Cheers, you have a good one , mate! :)

Thaks Nathan - The GT's in the water were being hand fed off the back of Odyssy...the black fish pictured was just huge!

Thanks for your help Robin much appreciated.

Hi Same - Thanks mate.  The Ripple 79H was very nice - particularly for fighting fish.  Lots of power but fairly easy on the angler too...very tempting!!

Cheers   Dave

yeah,   I am not sure yet but i am considering getting one (a Ripple Fisher 79H) for my-self.

Dave sorry, can i ask you,

did you use the 79H for popping only or for both popping and with stickbait's?

how happy were you (truly) in regard's to how the Ripple Fisher 79H performed on working the lures you used on the rod?

also earlier on today i just had a real quick look at the photo's and read the report to.  I just noticed it just then though,  in the 5th photo down from the very top and the very first lot of photo's,  that isn't a broken rod i can see is it?

Thanks Serge - I'm sure you'll make it out there  ;) - I can't recommend the trip highly enough !!!  I'm trying to figure out how I can do it all again !!

Hi Sam - I used the 79H with 150gm stickbaits and poppers. It seemed to do both very well to me.  I don't think you would want to drop much below 150gm with this rod as it is very powerful.  Damon described the rod as a heavy version of the 79R - hence its versatility.  I tried the rod for the last day of the trip (as you spotted I managed to bust my Wild Violence !!) and the rod was very nice to use after a few days on the WV.  Still a very powerful rod but a little easier on the angler when fighting fish - and very light in weight too....very tempting - I might make an investment myself!!

Hope this helps mate.

Cheers   Dave
