MARIA JIGGING RODS HELP

Hey guys , Ive seen these maria jigging rods at my local tackle store im thinking of purchasing two of them for both my jigging setups. Can anyone shed some light??

The first combo i want to use is for sydney harbour kingfish downrigging and trolling for light pelagics... with a saltiga z4500 with 40lb braid.

The second outfit i want to use is for cubing / trolling yellowfin tuna and marlin offshore... on a Daiwa exp6500


The first rod i was looking at is this one...

And the one for my exp6500 is this one... Lot of my friends use the smith 52ex do you think this rod could be up with it?

This is the heaviest of the Maria Jig rods, with a max drag rating of 10kg.... I havent tested it out but i think i could get a little more drag out of it....

Maria is a new name to me I have to admit. Who makes these?

I would say that the heavier of the 2 rods is a bit lighter in spec than the Smith AMJ 52EX you mention. If the price is anywhere close to a 52EX (?), it is hard to see why you would not buy the latter. Smith AMJ 52EX is just about my favourite jigging rod of all. A great weapon with more grunt than you expect and a fantastic action.

I own both of those rods that you mention, and I am very happy with both.

The 80-200g I have matched with a 5000 stella with 40lb line which I use for a light jigging combo, jigging up to 150g in 20 to 80m of water.

If there are some big boys around I use the 100-300g, which I have matched with the saltiga 6500 expedition, have 90lb line and jigs up to 300lb no worries.  Needs to be a decent fish to put a bend in it

Hi Andrew, I recently purchased a Maria Steady Jigging JGS575s which is yet to see the water. I note the max drag rating is 8kg. What drag setting do you typically use when using this rod? Cheers, Matt

I have the Maria 80-200g matched to a Stella SW 6000PG and love it!!!  I would recommend it highly.
