Ripple Fisher 78XH or HOT Gipang 78XH

Hi Guys,

i'm about to buy my first propper popper rod and needed some advice

i've managed to find the above Gipang for $700 (brand new), but have also seen a mint condition (2nd hand) ripple fisher for $750... I'm not huge (5'8" and 78kgs), but am reasonably strong, but am not sure which rod to pick!

need casting good distance (as will pop off the rocks) as well as a rod that isn't gopig to turn me into a crying little b!tch!

Any advice woudl be great guys!

Daniel, depending on the rocks you are fishing from, neither rod may be suitable as they won't be long enough.
I assume you are referring to a Gipang 79XH? I am not familiar with a Gipang 78XH. The only 78XH I know is the Ripple Fisher.
If so, the two rods you are looking at are very different and certainly, if you want to avoid a rod that is going to turn you into a crying little bitch, you better avoid the Ripple 78XH.

We have been using the PE 10/ 77  Xzoga popping rod now for 12 months ,here in Townsville.We also use the PE5 and tested a PE 8 protoype.For around $650  ,they cast very nice and lots of balls .

I would say about 3 sessions of physio worth of difference after a trip!
